Andrea, 2025 Paramotor World Champion: "Born in flight"
CITTADELLA: Among the clouds, in the skies of Chambley, France, on August 31st, at the 12th edition of the Paramotor World Championship, Andrea brought the world gold medal in the paramotor flying discipline to Italy. Andrea Cecchetto is from Cittadella (northern Italy – Veneto) and he is a 21-year-old pilot. He took on the challenges aboard his Miniplane LR-Top 80. This extraordinary triumph brings our national team back to the international top, considering that Team Italy also achieved second place overall, a result not seen since 1997.
“On the eve of the race I certainly didn’t imagine I would win,” Andrea says. “I would have been satisfied if I had finished in the top five, extremely happy if I had reached the podium. I knew the level was extremely high, starting with my teammates. Two months ago at the Italian Championships I finished second, but I didn’t think I could match the result I achieved.
I thank the Federation, the team, my teammates, and all the supporters.” A result born of commitment and passion. “Last year, in my first experiences, I came fifth at the Italian Championships and seventh at the World Championships. This year I trained more, but I didn’t think I could reach this level straight away ». Andrea likes to say that his life is “wind and fuel” and that he was “born in flight.” His father Diego is a pioneer of paragliding flight first and then of paramotor flight. Today he runs the family company Per il Volo, which built the paramotor with which Andrea won the title. With this, PER IL VOLO company has won 8 world titles.
“My father taught me to inflate the wing when I was two years old. First with an adapted kite, then with a small paraglider. On the beach, with my thirty kilos, I was lifted by the wind. At eight I was jumping from the hills, at 17 I got my free-flight license and at 18 my paramotor license”. In short Andrea, who was captivated by his father’s passion, but has demonstrated excellent qualities, leaves the earth to fly whenever he can. From pure and simple flight came the desire to compete.
“Beyond my technical preparation – concludes the new Paramotor World Champion – free flight practice was also decisive helping me develop a comprehensive and versatile skill set. I hope to win other Paramotor World Champion title – Andrea concludes – because I think I’ll never get tired: I’m only just getting started”
From words to action, given that Andrea is currently competing in Spain in another competition.
